Prospectuses tell you what a university wants you to know. Sometimes you want the rest — what admissions really look for, whether a scholarship is worth applying for, what campus life is actually like. On AllUniversity.info you can ask your question openly and get answers from students, representatives and others who've been there. Here's how to get a genuinely useful answer.

Where the answers come from

Questions on AllUniversity.info are answered by the university community — fellow students, applicants who've been through the process, and people who know the institutions first-hand. Because answers are public, the best ones help everyone who asks the same thing later. It's a shared knowledge base that grows with every question.

Have a look before you ask

Chances are someone's already asked something close to your question. Before posting, it's worth browsing:

• A specific university's Q&A section, from its profile page.
• The site-wide Q&A, where you can search across every question.

If you find your answer there, you've saved yourself the wait. If not, asking takes a moment.

How to ask a good question

Open the Ask a Question page and fill in two things:

• Title — a clear, specific one-line summary (between 10 and 250 characters). "Does the University of Toronto accept a three-year bachelor's for master's admission?" gets a better answer than "Admission question".
• Details — the full question, with enough context for someone to answer well (30 to 10,000 characters). Mention your situation: your country, the degree level, anything that changes the answer.

You can also tag the country and university your question is about (both optional). Tagging helps the right people find it — and puts your question in front of that university's community rather than lost in the crowd.

What happens after you post

Once your question is live, the community can answer it. As answers come in:

• Helpful answers rise to the top. Readers vote answers up or down, so the most useful responses are the ones you see first.
• You can mark the best answer as Accepted. When someone truly answers your question, accepting their answer highlights it for everyone who reads the thread later — and thanks the person who helped.

You'll want to check back, since answers arrive over time rather than instantly.

A few ground rules

To keep the Q&A useful for everyone:

• Keep it university-related — admissions, tuition, courses, campus life and the like.
• Be specific and be civil. Clear, respectful questions get better answers.
• No web links, no offensive language. Both are blocked, so leave them out.
• If you spot a question or answer that breaks these rules, use the Report option to flag it.
