Prospective students don't just want to know what your university is — they want to know what's happening: when applications open, when deadlines fall, which scholarships are available, and what's new. AllUniversity.info lets verified representatives publish Updates that reach students at exactly those moments, right across the site and in search results. Here's how to make the most of them.
What an update is
An update is a short, timely post tied to your university. Unlike your profile — which describes your institution in general — updates are about the here and now, and they're designed to be seen while they're relevant. You can post as many as you like, whenever you have something to share, and each one goes live the moment you publish it.
How to post an update
From your dashboard, open your university and choose Post an Update. You'll fill in a short form:
- Type — pick the category that fits: Admissions, Deadline, Scholarship, Programme, News / Announcement, or Other. This helps students filter to what they're looking for.
- Title — a clear, specific headline. "September 2026 intake now open" beats "Update".
- Body — the details. Keep it focused and easy to scan.
- Intake (optional) — tag the relevant term where it applies: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter or Rolling.
- Deadline (optional) — if your update is time-sensitive, set the date. This powers a Closing Soon flag as the deadline approaches.
- External link (optional) — link straight to the page students need next, such as your application or scholarship page. You can label the button yourself; it defaults to "More Information".
- Image (optional) — a picture makes your update stand out in feeds and listings.
When you're ready, select Post Update and it's live.
Where your updates appear
A single update works hard for you. As soon as it's published, it shows up in several places:
- On your university's profile, so anyone reading about you sees your latest news.
- On its own dedicated page with a permanent web address you can share anywhere.
- In the site-wide Updates feed and your country's feed, where students browse for what's new.
- In update widgets across relevant pages of the site.
- In the Updates RSS feed, for students and services that subscribe.
Recent posts are flagged as New, and time-sensitive ones as Closing Soon, so the most relevant updates catch the eye first.
Built to be found in search
Every update has its own indexable page and is submitted to search engines when you publish it. That means a well-written update — say, a specific scholarship with a clear deadline — can bring students to your university from a Google search, not just from people already browsing the site. Because each update's web address stays the same after publishing, the pages you create keep their search value over time.
Tips for updates that work
- Be specific. Name the programme, the amount, the date. Specific updates rank better and convert better.
- Always add the deadline when there is one — it drives the Closing Soon flag and creates urgency.
- Link to the next step. Send students straight to the application or information page with the external link.
- Post regularly. A steady stream of updates keeps your profile active and gives students reasons to return.
- Choose the right type and intake so students filtering by category or term find you.
Editing and removing updates
You can edit or delete any update you've posted from your dashboard. Editing keeps the update's original web address, so its search value and any shared links stay intact.
Updates are one of the most effective ways to turn a static listing into a living profile that students return to. If you haven't claimed your university yet, do that first — posting updates is one of the tools verification unlocks, free of charge.
