Your AllUniversity.info Profile - What's Public, What's Private, and How to Set It Up

When you join AllUniversity.info, you get a public profile at a clean web address of your own. It's where your questions, answers and reviews come together into a track record other students can see — which is exactly what makes your contributions trustworthy. Here's what your profile shows, what it keeps private, and how to set it up the way you want.

What your profile shows

Your public profile page brings together:

• Your display name and profile photo
• Your country and the month you became a member
• A summary of your activity — how many Questions you've asked, Answers you've given, answers of yours that were Accepted, and Reviews you've written
• The full lists of those questions, answers and reviews, so anyone can see the help you've contributed

Think of it as your reputation on the site: the more useful your contributions, the more your answers and reviews are worth to the students reading them.

What stays private

Your profile is about your contributions, not your personal details. It never shows your email address, and there's no role or status badge — everyone's profile looks the same, judged only on what they've shared. Your password and account settings are, of course, yours alone.

Your name vs. your display name

You have two names on AllUniversity.info, and they do different jobs:

• Your name is your actual name. It's used to create your profile's tidy web address (something like /users/your-name/) and isn't shown as a label on the page.
• Your display name is what people actually see on your profile and next to your contributions. It's optional and can be in any language or script. If you leave it blank, your name is used instead.

So if you'd like to appear under a preferred name — including in a non-Latin script — set a display name and that's what the community sees.

Setting up your profile

Open Account Settings from your account menu. There you can:

• Upload or change your profile picture (and remove it if you'd rather not have one).
• Set or update your display name.
• Choose your country.
• Decide whether to be notified by email about activity.

Your profile's web address is shown there too, so you always know the link to your profile.

Your profile stays quiet until you contribute

A brand-new profile with nothing on it isn't put in front of search engines — it stays out of search until you've made at least one public contribution, such as asking a question, answering one, or writing a review. In other words, your profile becomes discoverable when you've actually got something on it, not the moment you sign up.

Why it's worth filling in

A profile with a real display name and photo makes your questions more approachable and your answers and reviews more credible — students naturally trust a recognisable, active member over an anonymous one. It only takes a minute to set up, and it makes everything else you do on the site count for more.
