Deakin University

Deakin University, a large public research university based in Victoria, Australia, has a reputation for being innovative with its digital education approach throughout the campuses located in Melbourne, Geelong, and Warrnambool and also has an innovative campus outside of Australia. Deakin University also has campuses around the world through its multiple international offices including India; therefore, it is one of the largest universities in Australia, usually being noted for providing students with the highest level of satisfaction regarding their various levels of flexibility and access to quality higher education that is designed to meet individual student needs.

The University was established under the Deakin University Act, 1974. The university is named after Alfred Deakin, who was Australia's second prime minister and an advocate for the establishment of Federation; Deakin University resulted from merging several existing colleges including the Gordon Institute of Technology (higher education) and the State College of Victoria - Geelong. The university was also established as the first provider of distance education (including support for older, rural, and historically disadvantaged populations) in Australia – which represented an important change in the way higher education was provided within the country.
