Belarusian State Medical University

Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) is a public university in Minsk, Belarus, specializing in medicine and dentistry.

The history of Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) dates back to 1921, when the Medical Department was founded as part of the Belarusian State University. In 1930, the department became an independent educational institution, known as the Belarusian Medical Institute.

During the Second World War, the institute was evacuated to the city of Yaroslavl in Russia. It resumed its work in Minsk after the war ended in 1945.

In the years following the war, the institute expanded rapidly and became one of the leading medical schools in the Soviet Union. It was granted the status of a university in 2001.
