New Bulgarian University
New Bulgarian University (NBU) is a private university based in Sofia, Bulgaria
The history of New Bulgarian University (NBU) can be traced back to 1989, when a group of higher education scholars and researchers set up a Society for a New Bulgarian University aimed at reforming the system of Bulgarian higher education.
In 1991, the Bulgarian Parliament passed a resolution establishing NBU. The university was founded by Bogdan Bogdanov and a group of Bulgarian intellectuals, and it welcomed its first students in the same year.
NBU was established with the goal of modernizing Bulgarian higher education. The university introduced a number of new features, including the credit system, interdisciplinary programs, and computer-aided forms of training. NBU also became one of the first universities in Bulgaria to offer distance learning programs.
NBU is known for its innovative teaching methods and its focus on internationalization. The university has a large number of international students and faculty, and it offers a variety of programs in English. NBU is also a member of the Erasmus+ program, which allows students to study abroad at other European universities.
