Royal University of Agriculture

The Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) is a leading public agricultural university in Cambodia. It is located in Dangkao Section, southwest Phnom Penh. The university is operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) was founded in 1964 as the Royal Agricultural College by then Prince Norodom Sihanouk. It was one of the nine royal universities established to improve Cambodian higher education development. The university was initially supported by the French government, and offered bachelor's degrees in Agronomy, Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry and Fishery.

In 1975, the Khmer Rouge regime came to power and abolished all higher education in Cambodia. RUA was reopened in 1981 as the Institute of Agricultural Technology, and offered diplomas in agriculture, animal science, and veterinary medicine.

In 1993, the university was renamed the Royal University of Agriculture, and began offering bachelor's degrees again. In 2003, RUA was granted university status.

Since then, RUA has expanded its academic offerings to include graduate programs, and has established partnerships with international universities and research institutions. The university has also played a leading role in developing Cambodia's agricultural sector.

Today, RUA is a leading public agricultural university in Cambodia. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of agricultural disciplines, and has a strong focus on applied research. The university's graduates are in high demand from employers in the agricultural sector, and RUA plays an important role in developing Cambodia's human resources in the fields of agriculture and rural development.
