East China University of Political Science and Law

East China University of Political Science and Law is a well-regarded public university in Shanghai, China, known for its law programs.

The university boasts a rich history dating back to 1952. Established by Wei Wenbo, it stands as one of the very first institutions of higher learning dedicated to law in the People's Republic of China.  ECUPL's foundation involved the consolidation of law, political science, and sociology departments from prestigious universities like Peking University and Yenching University. This merger created a powerhouse for legal education from the outset.

In 1983, recognizing ECUPL's potential, the Central People's Government implemented a plan to propel the university to become a leading center for legal and political studies in China. This  resulted in a name change to the current East China University of Political Science and Law. The commitment to growth continued with the addition of the Changping campus in 1985, solidifying ECUPL's position as a major academic player.

Rigorous academics are a top priority. With a distinguished faculty and a focus on research, students delve deep into legal and political theory while honing critical thinking and analytical skills. Modern libraries, well-equipped classrooms, and access to cutting-edge research facilities bolster this academic environment. To complement academics, the university boasts a diverse range of student clubs and organizations. These cater to various interests, from debate teams and moot court societies for aspiring lawyers to cultural clubs that celebrate international diversity.

Recognizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle, the university provides excellent sports facilities, including gymnasiums, swimming pools, and athletic fields. Students can participate in various sports teams or enjoy individual fitness routines. With a significant international student population and partnerships with universities worldwide, the university offers a globalized campus experience.
