Hengshui University

Hengshui University is a public university located in Hengshui, Hebei province, China.

This university's roots run deeper than its young, four-year existence as a comprehensive university suggests. Its story begins in 1923, with the founding of the Sixth Normal School of Zhili, the former name of Hebei Province. Over the decades, it underwent several transformations, serving as the South-Hebei Cadres College in 1948, then being re-established as Hebei Ji County Normal School in 1949. In 1960, it relocated to Hengshui City and adopted the name Hengshui Normal School. Recognizing the growing need for higher education, it transitioned into Hengshui Normal College in 1978. A turning point came in 1998 when the Hengshui Normal College merged with the Hengshui College of Education, creating a new and stronger institution. This paved the way for the most significant transformation in 2004. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the college rose to the status of a comprehensive university, christened Hengshui University. This marked the culmination of a long journey, solidifying its position as a key center for learning in the region.
