Jimei University

Jimei University is a well-regarded provincial public university located in Xiamen, Fujian, China.

This esteemed university's story begins in 1918, with the founding of Jimei Normal School by a revered overseas Chinese leader, Chen Jiageng (Tan Kah Kee). Driven by a vision of fostering well-rounded individuals, he laid the groundwork for what would become a flourishing institution. Just two years later, the school expanded its horizons by establishing the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Business within Jimei School, demonstrating an early commitment to practical and industry-relevant education. These early foundations paved the way for further growth. Over the decades, the institution underwent several transformations. Jimei Teachers Senior Vocational School, Jimei Navigation College, Jimei Finance and Economics Senior Vocational School, Xiamen Fisheries College, and Fujian Sports College all played a part in the university's evolving form. Finally, in 1994, these institutions merged to form the current Jimei University, solidifying its position as a comprehensive university offering a diverse range of academic programs.
