Kunming Medical University

Kunming Medical University, formerly known as Kunming Medical College, is a medical school located in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China.

This prominent medical university's roots trace back further than its 1993 founding.  In 1933, a seed was sown when a specialized medical program was initiated at Donglu University. This program flourished, leading to the establishment of a dedicated School of Medicine within Donglu University (later renamed Yunnan University) in 1937.  This marked the formal beginning of medical education at the institution. Years of dedicated teaching and development culminated in 1956 when the School of Medicine became an independent entity, christened Kunming Medical College.  This newfound independence allowed the institution to focus solely on medical education and research. Recognition of its achievements came in 1993 when it was elevated to the status of a full-fledged university, taking on its current name - Kunming Medical University.
