Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is a well-established public university in China, focusing on science and technology education.

In 1958, a pivotal year for China's industrial development, a new institution emerged – the Beijing Institute of Light Industry. This marked the birth of a university destined to become a leader in science and technology education.  Back then, the focus was clear: nurturing highly skilled professionals to propel China's burgeoning light industry sector. Fast forward to 1970, and the institute underwent a geographical shift, relocating to Xianyang city within Shaanxi Province. This period also saw a name change to the Northwest Institute of Light Industry, reflecting its regional focus. A turning point arrived in 1978 when the institute received national recognition, being designated as one of the prestigious "88 key universities" by the State Council. This distinction underscored the institute's vital role in China's scientific and technological landscape. The new millennium ushered in a new chapter. In 2002, with a broader vision encompassing various scientific and technological disciplines, the institute embraced a new identity – Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (SUST). This transformation was accompanied by a move to Xi'an, the historic capital of Shaanxi Province.
