Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is a unique university opportunity combining aspects of Chinese and British education.

The seeds of this unique university were sown in 2004 when two prestigious institutions, a Chinese powerhouse in technology and a British leader in academic excellence, joined hands. The vision was to create a bridge between Eastern and Western education. In 2005, construction began on the university's campus, situated in a city known for its historical charm and beauty. This fusion of old and new symbolized the university's core mission. The following year, in 2006, the doors officially opened, welcoming a first cohort of around 160 eager undergraduates.

The early years saw rapid growth. By the second year, the student body had more than tripled, showcasing the international appeal of the dual-degree program. This program, a hallmark of the university, grants students a degree from both the Chinese and British partner universities, offering a truly globalized education.  In 2008, the university received a significant boost when China's Minister of Education himself visited the campus, highlighting its growing importance in the educational landscape. Since then, the university has continued to flourish, establishing new academic schools, attracting a diverse student body from over 85 nationalities, and solidifying its reputation as a top private university in China.

Campus life here is a tapestry woven from academic rigor and cultural exploration. Students have the opportunity to pursue over 100 degree programs, with a unique feature being the undergraduate dual degrees awarded in conjunction with both partner universities. This allows students to gain a well-rounded education that incorporates strengths from both Chinese and British educational systems. Beyond academics, the campus buzzes with cultural exchange opportunities, allowing students to delve into the rich traditions of their peers and broaden their horizons.
