Yibin University, also referred to as Yiyuan, is a public provincial university located in Yibin City, Sichuan Province, China.

This public provincial university's history began in 1978, initially established with a local focus. Over the years, it diligently grew its academic reputation and stature. A key turning point came in 2001, when it merged with another esteemed institution, the Sichuan Institute of Education's Yibin Branch. This consolidation marked a significant step forward, solidifying its position as the first major institute within Yibin City. Prior to the merger, the university underwent a period of development. In 1985, it relocated to a new site in Yibin City, expanding its reach and facilities. By 1993, its achievements were recognized by the Ministry of Education, leading to a renaming that reflected its evolving status - Yibin Normal Higher Vocational College. The 2001 merger marked the birth of the current university. Since then, it has continued to flourish. It has garnered numerous awards, such as "National Civilized Unit" and "Sichuan Provincial Garden-style College," reflecting its dedication to fostering a well-rounded learning environment.
