The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) is the oldest technical university in Europe.

The history of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) dates back to 1707, when it was founded as the Institute of Engineering Education by Emperor Joseph I. The institute was originally a secondary school, but it was granted university status in 1806 and became known as the Prague Polytechnic.
