Technical University of Loja
The Technical University of Loja (UTPL) is a private university in Loja, Ecuador.
The Technical University of Loja (UTPL) was founded on May 3, 1971, by the Ecuadorian Marist Association. The university was established with the approval and support of the Diocese of Loja. UTPL was initially administered by the Marist Association, but in October 1997, it was transferred to the Religious Association "Id of Redeeming Christ" Idente Missionaries.
UTPL was officially recognized by the Ecuadorian State on August 18, 1971, according to the executive decree No. 646 published in the official record No. 112.
UTPL was one of the first universities in Ecuador to offer distance education programs. The university began offering distance education programs in 1975, and today, UTPL is one of the leading providers of distance education in the country.
UTPL has also been a pioneer in the use of technology in education. The university was one of the first universities in Ecuador to use computers in the classroom. UTPL also has a state-of-the-art distance learning platform that allows students to learn from anywhere in the world.
