Lappeenranta University of Technology
Lappeenranta University of Technology is a public university in Finland with campuses in Lappeenranta and Lahti.
The history of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT University) can be traced back to 1969, when the Finnish government established the University of Eastern Finland in Lappeenranta. The university was spread over three campuses, with one of them focusing on technology.
In 1991, the department of Business Administration was also added to the Lappeenranta Campus. In 2003, the university changed its name to Lappeenrannan teknillinen yliopisto (LTY/LUT), or Lappeenranta University of Technology in English.
LUT University started permanent operations in Lahti in 1996 in the form of a small research unit. In 2019, the university merged with Lahti University of Applied Sciences to form Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, or LUT University for short.
Today, LUT University is a leading university in Finland in technology, business, and social sciences. The university is known for its strong focus on sustainability and its close collaboration with industry.
