Al Maaref University is a privately owned institution offering higher education services located in the city of Beirut, Lebanon. The main campus of the university is found in the suburb of Al-Murouge, outside the former Airport Avenue. As a non-profit organization, the university runs on the philosophy of "Mastering Life with Wisdom and Knowledge". The university offers organized higher education based on the values of practicality, technological knowledge and culture. Al Maaref University is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon. This institution organizes its curriculum through various faculties in technology, business, human sciences and communication.
The official establishment of the university came about through the issuance of the Ministerial Decree No. 7265 on December 22, 2011, and thus it became the 33rd university in Lebanon. The university functions as a subsidiary of the Islamic Association for Education, which has been involved in education since 1995. After some years of developing curricula and physical structure, the university was finally launched and admitted its first student body in October 2015. In the following ten years, the university steadily developed its governing structures, aligned itself with the procedures set forth by Article 10 of the Lebanese Constitution, and included special research and students' services centers in its city campus complex.
Currently, Al Maaref University is an integrated institution engaged actively into the teaching of what the students really need in order to face the real situation in the society and in the economy. The university focuses on rendering teaching services in compliance with ethical principles as well as modern technologies. The university has also created various dedicated institutions which help the alumni, for instance, to get employment. Throughout the whole period of existence of Al Maaref University it has always stayed one of the most innovative and progressive educational institutions providing the society with academic innovations and at the same time developing the approaches to its leadership as well as civic responsibility and initiative.
