Lebanese German University

Lebanese German University, located in Sahel Alma, Jounieh, is a private, not-for-profit higher learning institution established in Lebanon at 20 kilometers north of Beirut. Lebanese German University is recognized and accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and it adopts European standards when executing its academic programs. The university uses both English and French as its languages of instruction while introducing the German language in all its academic programs. The university is committed to encouraging intercultural dialogue, sustainable development, and practical experiences which link the educational methodologies of the Middle East and Europe.

The university's historical roots can be traced back to the founding of the Technical Institute of Paramedical Sciences in 1974, which set forth the legacy of providing quality education in vocational healthcare through the training of thousands of paramedical practitioners. In 1981, a group of committed German citizens living in Lebanon allied with their Lebanese counterparts to establish the Lebanese German Association for the Promotion of Culture (ALAC). Despite the upheaval of the Lebanese Civil War, this association expanded its educational reach by establishing the German School in 1986 and the German Cultural House in 1988. In recognition of all that had been accomplished, the university was officially given the go ahead by the Lebanese government to move into higher education in 2007.
