Notre Dame University

Notre Dame University is a private and non-profit institution of higher education that is located in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon. The university is located on the banks of Dog River, which is situated to the north of Beirut, Lebanon. Established under the sponsorship of the Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary, NDU is fully licensed to provide services and has been recognized regionally in the United States of America by the New England Commission of Higher Education (Nech). Following the American style of liberal arts education and with the use of the English language as its mode of instruction, NDU provides bachelor's and master's degree programs in seven faculties, namely Architecture, Business Administration, Engineering, Humanities, Natural & Applied Sciences, Law and Political Science, and Nursing and Health Sciences.

The institution dates back to 1978 when it was first founded as the Louaize College for Higher Education (LCHE) through a partnership between Beirut University College (the current Lebanese American University) and the institution. The foundation of the institution was under the Maronite Order, with Reverend Bechara Boutros Rahi being one of the major individuals guiding it during the foundation period. This time was particularly difficult for Lebanon since there was a need to increase the chances of higher education at that time. After the development of the institution and expansion of its curriculums, the Lebanese government officially certified it as a university through Presidential Decree No. 4116 on August 14, 1987, and renamed it to Notre Dame University – Louaize. Since then, NDU has expanded its campuses into other regions within Lebanon.

In the present day, Notre Dame University-Louaize is regarded as one of the best private universities in Lebanon due to the academic excellence, specialized research centers, and high level of community service. The university boasts specialized research institutions like Lebanese Emigration Research Center and Center for Applied Research in Education, as well as many international alliances and exchange programs worldwide. With an accent on morality, technology, and sustainability on campus, NDU continues to provide its students with necessary skills to serve their country and the world.
