Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) is a fascinating institution with a deep commitment to educational excellence in Mauritius.

The story begins even earlier, in 1971, when the Mauritian government, envisioning a modernized education system, announced the creation of an institute dedicated to teacher training, research, and curriculum development. Recognizing the importance of this initiative, UNESCO and UNDP stepped in to lend their expertise. Under their guidance, the Mauritius Institute of Education Act was formally enacted in 1973, marking the official birth of MIE.

Initially, teacher training responsibilities were shared between MIE and the Teacher Training College (TTC). However, in 1983, MIE assumed full responsibility for all teacher training activities, solidifying its role as the premier teacher education institution in Mauritius.
