Pokhara University

Pokhara University (PU) is a public university located in Pokhara, Nepal.

The idea of Pokhara University (PU) was conceived in 1986, but it was not until 1997 that it was established under the Pokhara University Act, 1997. The university was established as part of a government initiative to improve access to higher education in Nepal.

The university started its operation in 1998 with two schools: the School of Management and the School of Science and Technology. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences was established in 1999, and the School of Health Sciences was established in 2000.

In the early years, PU operated from rented buildings in different parts of Pokhara. However, in 2008, the university moved to its permanent campus in Kaski District. The campus is spread over 1,000 acres and has all the necessary facilities for teaching, research, and student life.

PU has grown rapidly since its establishment. PU is a leading university in Nepal and is known for its high-quality education and research. PU is also committed to social responsibility and community development. The university has a number of programs and initiatives in place to support the local community, such as its free medical camp and its literacy program.
