University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) is a university located in Port Moresby, capital of Papua New Guinea.

In 1965, amidst Papua New Guinea's journey towards independence, the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) emerged as a beacon of higher education. Born from the recommendations of the Currie Commission, it initially enrolled just 58 students in a preliminary course. Quickly blossoming, degree courses in Arts, Law, and Science took root in 1967, laying the foundation for what would become the nation's premier university.
