Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic University

Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic University is a private Catholic university in Paraguay. It is the largest university in the country and is located in the capital city of Asunción, with branches in other towns.

The history of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic University (Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, UC) dates back to 1960, when it was founded by a group of Paraguayan Catholics led by Bishop Emilio A. Cinense. The university was established in response to a growing need for higher education in Paraguay and a desire to create a Catholic institution that would provide students with a holistic education based on Christian values.

UC began its operations with a small number of students and faculty, but it quickly grew in size and reputation. In 1965, the university opened its doors to its first class of medical students. In 1979, UC established its College of Architecture, the first of its kind in the region.

Today, UC is the largest and most prestigious university in Paraguay. It is known for its academic excellence, its commitment to social justice, and its strong tradition of research. UC has produced many notable alumni, including politicians, business leaders, and academics.

Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic University is ranked as the #2 top university in Paraguay during 2024. This is the same rank as last year.
