Tomsk State University

Tomsk State University (TSU) is a public research university located in Tomsk, Russia.

The history of Tomsk State University (TSU) can be traced back to 1878, when it was founded as Imperial Tomsk University. The university was the first in the Asian part of Russia, and was established in response to the growing need for higher education in the region.

TSU was founded by a group of prominent Russian scientists and educators, including Dmitry Mendeleev, the inventor of the periodic table of elements. The university's first rector was Nikolai Gezekhus, a renowned mathematician and physicist.
