Greenside Design Centre College of Design is located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 1987, a visionary named Professor Desmond Laubscher envisioned a design school unlike any other in South Africa. Fueled by a passion to challenge the status quo and nurture responsible creative minds, Laubscher established the institution with the core principle of "Different by Design." This guiding motto wasn't just a catchy phrase; it encapsulated the school's revolutionary approach to design education.  They broke away from traditional, purely theoretical methods, emphasizing practical applications alongside design theory.  This commitment to innovation is evident in their ever-evolving curriculum, which constantly adapts to keep pace with the ever-changing design landscape.

The year 1997 marked a turning point. The school gained international recognition by becoming the first design institution in the country to be a member of prestigious international design bodies like Cumulus International Association and the International Council of Graphic Design Association.  These memberships not only solidified their reputation but also opened doors for collaboration with design professionals from around the world.
