National Chung Hsing University

National Chung Hsing University, which stands as a distinguished public research university in Taichung, Taiwan, holds membership in the Taiwan Comprehensive University System as its foremost institution. The institution traces its origins to 1919, when it was founded by the Japanese as the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry in Taipei. The school experienced multiple major changes during the early 20th century after it became an affiliate of Taihoku Imperial University and relocated to Taichung in 1943. After Taiwan regained control in 1945, the organization progressed through multiple stages which included becoming Taiwan Provincial College of Agriculture before it unified with other institutions to establish Taiwan Provincial Chung Hsing University in 1961. The institution achieved its current status as a national university in 1971 which marked its transition to a research institution with comprehensive academic offerings.
