Hacettepe University

Hacettepe University is a public research university located in Ankara, Turkey.

The history of Hacettepe University can be traced back to the establishment of the Institute of Child Health on 8 July 1958, and the inauguration of the Hacettepe Children's Hospital founded by Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı.

Doğramacı, a renowned pediatrician and educator, envisioned a university that would be dedicated to the health and well-being of the Turkish people. He believed that education and research were essential for improving the quality of life for all Turks, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

In 1967, the Turkish Parliament passed a law establishing Hacettepe University. The university was formed from the merger of the Hacettepe Institutes of Higher Education and the Ankara State Academy of Engineering and Architecture.

At its founding, Hacettepe University had four faculties: Medicine, Health Sciences, Science, and Social and Administrative Sciences. The university has since expanded to include 16 faculties, 15 institutes, 4 vocational schools, 2 colleges, 1 conservatory, and 98 research and application centers.

Hacettepe University has played a major role in the development of higher education and research in Turkey. The university has been at the forefront of many important advances in medicine, science, and technology. Hacettepe University is also a leader in international education and collaboration.
