The American University in Dubai (AUD) is a private, nonreligious institution that bridges the gap between Western schooling standards and the rich culture found in the rapidly changing Middle East. This private school is located near to both Dubai Media City & Dubai Internet City so it provides an excellent opportunity for students from all over the globe to experience an environment that is similar to living in the real world while still providing great educational opportunities. The American University in Dubai began operations in 1991 when a visionary leader called Elias Bou Saab was commissioned to conduct research for establishing an American-style university at an exceptional level of quality in the Middle East and to provide access to world-class higher education opportunities for future leaders of tomorrow. Following this initiative, this higher learning institution was officially inaugurated in October 1995 through the formal support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The higher learning institution started as a branch of the American College in Atlanta, Georgia, but over time it expanded significantly, eventually moving to its present expansive campus in 2000. This higher learning institution has over the years registered numerous milestones, including becoming the first higher learning institution outside of the United States of America and Latin America that is independently accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
