Bangor University

With beautiful views of the mountains and sea, Bangor University is a major public university based in the picturesque coastal city of Bangor in North Wales. Bangor University's history began in 1884, when local miners and farmers worked together and donated part of their wages to create University College of North Wales. The College opened in a previous coaching inn, had a small number of staff and students, and became a founding member of the University of Wales in 1893. Throughout the 1900s, the college significantly expanded its campus including the opening of the beautiful Grade I listed main building in 1911. In 2007, Bangor became a fully independent university able to award its own degrees while maintaining its connection to Welsh culture and history.
