University of Reading

University of Reading functions as a public research university which serves as a prestigious academic institution within Berkshire, England because of its award-winning parkland campuses and its worldwide scholarly programs. The Whiteknights campus, which serves as the university's main campus, has achieved Green Flag Award status because it ranks among the UK's most exceptional green spaces, which include its beautiful lake and woodland areas and historic Harris Garden. The university operates international campuses in Malaysia and South Africa which serve as its primary international base while promoting a multicultural environment that attracts students from more than 160 countries.

The institution originated from 19th-century Schools of Art and Science which opened their doors to students in 1860 and 1870. The institution became an extension college of Christ Church Oxford in 1892 when it adopted its new name University College Reading with geographer Sir Halford Mackinder leading the school. The institution received its Royal Charter on March 17 1926 which established it as the first university in the United Kingdom to be granted university status after World War I and before World War II. The university expanded its educational programs after World War II through the purchase of Whiteknights Park, which enabled them to develop a new residential campus.
