Karakalpak State University

Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh (Karsu) is a public university located in Nukus, the capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan. It is the largest university in Karakalpakstan and one of the leading universities in Uzbekistan.

The history of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh (Karsu) can be traced back to 1976, when it was founded as Karakalpak State Pedagogical Institute. The institute was established to meet the growing demand for teachers in Karakalpakstan, which had become an autonomous republic within the Soviet Union in 1936.

In 1992, the institute was renamed Karakalpak State University. This reflected the growing importance of the university in the development of Karakalpakstan. The university also became a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) in the same year.
