Hue University

Hue University operates as a public research institution which serves as a major educational facility in Hue Vietnam, the historic imperial capital of the country. The university functions as a multidisciplinary system which supports the development requirements of Central Vietnam and the Western Highlands because it qualifies as one of Vietnam's primary regional educational institutions. The university maintains "Synergy for Excellence" as its official motto while building an academic environment which promotes innovation and responsible academic behavior and shows kindness toward others. The university campus forms part of Hues distinct urban landscape which displays French colonial architectural styles and traditional Eastern "garden houses," thereby creating a peaceful green space that showcases the city's cultural heritage.

The institution started its first major organizational change in March 1957 when it established the University of Hue. The university established its first three faculties during this time by creating departments for scientific studies and teaching disciplines and literary studies. The Vietnam War brought major challenges to the university because its buildings became battlegrounds during the 1968 Tet Offensive. The university transformed into various independent specialized colleges after Vietnam became unified in 1975. The separate colleges of Hue University became united again in 1994 through Government Decree No. 30/CP, which created the current Hue University system. The new organizational structure enabled the institution to gather all its assets while returning to its former position as a top national educational institution which conducts scientific research.
