Badji Mokhtar University of Annaba

UBMA's journey began in 1975, established by a presidential decree with the mission of fostering development in the Annaba region. The fledgling university started with two faculties: Science and Law.

Expansion and Diversification: In the following years, UBMA witnessed dynamic growth, adding new faculties like Earth Sciences, Economics, and Humanities. By the 1990s, it had become a multi-disciplinary institution catering to diverse academic interests.

The 1990s were a period of social and political unrest in Algeria, and UBMA wasn't immune to its effects. The university faced challenges but continued to operate and educate its students. As Algeria entered the 21st century, UBMA shifted its focus towards research and innovation. New research laboratories were established, partnerships with international institutions were forged, and postgraduate programs were expanded.
