Mohamed Khider University of Biskra

In 1983, a seed was sown in the heart of Biskra. Recognizing the need for higher education opportunities in the region, the Algerian government established the National Institutes of Biskra. These institutes, initially focusing on Law, Economics, and Earth Sciences, laid the foundation for what would become UMKB.

As the demand for higher education surged, the National Institutes underwent a significant transformation in 1992. They were integrated into a single entity known as the University Center of Biskra. This marked a crucial phase, as the center broadened its academic scope to encompass new faculties like Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Technology, and Medicine.

The year 1998 witnessed a pivotal moment in the institution's history. The University Center of Biskra was officially granted the status of a full-fledged university, taking the name of the prominent Algerian political figure and independence activist, Mohamed Khider. This recognition cemented UMKB's position as a leading educational force in Algeria.
