National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia

National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia operates its specialized educational programs from its Yerevan campus which serves as the capital city of Armenia. The institution functions as the main educational institution for architectural and civil engineering studies throughout the nation which supports both urban development and the protection of Armenia's special cultural heritage. The university demonstrates its technical capacity through its research programs which support new ideas in urban development and environmental science and urban design activities. The institution operates as a contemporary research center which serves the South Caucasus region while providing space for traditional architectural techniques to combine with modern technological methods that create architectural designs for the country's physical environment. 

The institution began when it opened its doors in 1921 as a Technical Faculty of the new Yerevan State University. The institution changed its organizational structure multiple times because it originally started as a department before it became a Construction Institute in 1930 which later merged with the Karl Marx Polytechnic Institute during the Soviet period. A new Architectural-Construction Institute opened in 1989 to serve the growing demands of the national construction sector after Armenia became independent from the Soviet Union. The university achieved its present status and name in 2014 which represented almost 100 years of academic progress that resulted in 30000 graduates who helped reconstruct and design the infrastructure and cities of the Armenian Republic.
