La Trobe University

La Trobe University functions as a major research university in Australia which maintains social inclusion programs while operating multiple campuses throughout urban and rural Australian territories. The university was established in 1964 following an act of the Victorian Parliament which made it the third university in the state and the twelfth university in Australia. The university received its name from Charles Joseph La Trobe who served as the first Lieutenant-Governor of Victoria while his family motto "Qui cherche trouve" (Whoever seeks shall find) functions as the university's main guiding principle. The institution opened its doors to students in 1967 through an innovative educational model which combined school-based learning with a new collegiate system that was revolutionary for its time. La Trobe University developed into a state university through multiple mergers with regional colleges including Bendigo College of Advanced Education which created a university system that specialized in developing regional areas.
