The University of Queensland in Lucia, Queensland, Australia, is sometimes called UQ. Its students, numbering over 46,000, have the option to major in many fields, including Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Administration, Agriculture, Biology, and Law. Other courses of study include Business, English, Economics, History, and Computer Studies.

Established in 1910, this college's birth marked 50 years since Queensland had become independent from New South Wales. The first chancellor was Sir William MacGregor. The university did not begin to develop fully until after World War I. At that time, enrollment grew and more land was set aside so that the school could expand. 

Based on the QS World University Ranking of 2023, The University of Queensland is positioned as the #50 top university in the world, which makes it the #5 top university in Australia. The university's global rank decreased by 3 points from last year.
