Azerbaijan State University of Oil Industry
Azerbaijan State University of Oil Industry (ASOIU) is a public university in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is the oldest and largest university in Azerbaijan specializing in oil and gas engineering and other related fields.
The history of Azerbaijan State University of Oil Industry (ASOIU) can be traced back to 1887, when the preparatory technical school that would become Baku Polytechnicum was established in Baku, Azerbaijan. In 1910, the school integrated a curriculum related to the growing oil industry, and in 1920, the Baku Industrial College, the predecessor of ASOIU, was founded.
After the independence of Azerbaijan from the Soviet Union in 1992, the university changed its name to the current ASOIU and began to change its curricula into a more Western model. The school's first bachelor's and master's degree candidates graduated in 1999. In 2015, by the decree of the president, the university was named the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University.
