Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur

Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (DUET) is a public engineering and technological research university in Gazipur, Bangladesh.

DUET's journey began in 1980 as the College of Engineering, Dhaka, with a humble campus in Tejgaon. It offered only four-year Bachelor's degrees in Civil, Electrical and Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering. Soon after, it was renamed Dhaka Engineering College (DEC) under the University of Dhaka. In 1983, DEC shifted to its present permanent location in Gazipur City.

Three years later, in 1986, the government upgraded DEC to the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Dhaka, granting it the authority to award its own degrees. This marked a significant turning point in DUET's evolution. Finally, in 2003, BITD achieved full autonomy and transformed into the Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur.

Over the years, DUET has steadily expanded its academic offerings, faculty, and infrastructure. From its humble beginnings, DUET has become a premier engineering and technology university in Bangladesh, renowned for its quality education, research contributions, and commitment to shaping future engineers and architects.
