Kabi Nazrul Government College

Kabi Nazrul Government College, named after the legendary Bangladeshi poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, is a renowned educational institution located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

In 1873, Kabi Nazrul Government College began its journey as Dhaka Madrasa, established with a grant from the Mohsin Fund. Modeled after Calcutta Alia Madrasah, it served as a center for Islamic studies. As Dhaka evolved, so did the college. In 1921, it became Dhaka Intermediate College after the University of Dhaka opened its doors, allowing students to further their studies.

The college transitioned again in 1947, offering both Madrasa and College sections. Following this, two more milestones marked its path: the opening of the Humanities department in 1957 and the Science department in 1970. Finally, in 1972, the school received its current name, Kabi Nazrul Government College, honoring the revolutionary poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Today, KNGC stands as a vibrant institution, offering diverse academic programs and nurturing generations of future leaders.
