BA ISAGO University is a private university in Gaborone, Botswana. BA ISAGO University began as a University College in 2002 to provide quality education in response to Botswana's growing demand for higher education.
The University was formally registered by the Botswana Training Authority (which became the Botswana Qualifications Authority) in June 2004. This event marked the first step in the formal process of establishing the institution and obtaining official recognition. In 2006 the university was granted institutional accreditation by the Tertiary Education Council (which became the Human Resource Development Council) which solidified its position in the higher education landscape, and ensured its programs met national standards of distinction and excellence in academic programs. The institution was founded at a time when private higher education choices were less prevalent in Botswana. The institution saw the need for more diverse and accessible educational options targeting all students with alternative aspirations to those provided by the not so prestigious public universities in Botswana. Starting with just 50 students on its first Francistown campus, the university has continued to grow over the years while evolving smoothly with Botswana’s higher education needs based on the context and educating students. His commitment to delivering quality programs and enhancing student support services has contributed markedly to its growth.
In June 2015, a significant milestone was reached with the university college's designation as a full university. This recognition celebrated the institution's commitment to academic attainment and its contribution to the advancement of higher education in Botswana. This milestone was the beginning of a new phase of growth in which the university continued to diversify its offerings to reflect educational standards at regional and international levels as it expanded to multiple campuses in Gaborone, Maun, and Serowe to support educational access for students throughout the nation. Today, the university is a significant contributor to Botswana's higher education sector, distinguished by its commitment to providing affordable quality education. The institution remains committed to the development of academic programs with relevance to the country's economic and social development, while still enhancing a diverse and inclusive learning environment. As the university expands and develops, it continues to demonstrate a commitment to positively shaping the future of Botswana's education system and the development of the nation’s skilled labor force.
