Yunnan Agricultural University

Yunnan Agricultural University is a comprehensive university located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

This prominent university in Yunnan Province has a rich history dating back to 1938. Its roots lie in a focused mission: addressing the agricultural needs of the region. Established as a School of Agriculture under the umbrella of Yunnan University, it recognized the importance of agriculture for the province's development. In 1958, it gained independence, becoming the Kunming Agriculture and Forestry College (KAFC). This marked a shift towards a broader focus, incorporating forestry alongside agriculture.

A significant turning point came in 1971 with the merger of KAFC and the Yunnan Agricultural and Working University. This union, finalized in 1972, led to the birth of the current university. The merger not only solidified its agricultural focus but also paved the way for a more comprehensive approach. New schools offering programs in science, arts, engineering, and even administration were established, reflecting the university's ambition to equip graduates with a wider range of skills.

Throughout its journey, the university has received recognition for its excellence. In 1993, it was designated as a key university within Yunnan Province, solidifying its position as a leader in education and research. This recognition further fueled its development, leading to the authorization to award master's degrees in 1983 and doctoral degrees in 2003. Additionally, in 2001, it became one of the two key training bases for biological science experts in Yunnan Province.

Today, this university stands tall as a comprehensive institution with a deep agricultural heritage. It looks to the future with a clear vision: to be a leading force in agricultural research, contributing to global food security through innovation. By nurturing future generations of agricultural professionals and fostering groundbreaking research, this university is poised to make a significant impact on the world stage.
