Polytechnic University José Antonio Echeverría

Polytechnic University José Antonio Echeverría is a public university located in Havana, Cuba.

The history of the Polytechnic University José Antonio Echeverría (CUJAE) can be traced back to the early 1960s, when the Cuban government was working to develop the country's technical and scientific workforce. In 1962, the government established the Higher Technological Institute of Havana, which offered training in engineering and architecture. The institute was initially located in a former military barracks, but it quickly outgrew its facilities. In 1964, the government constructed a new campus for the institute on the outskirts of Havana. The campus was designed by a team of Cuban and Soviet architects, and it was one of the most modern and well-equipped university campuses in Latin America at the time. 

The institute was renamed the Polytechnic University of Havana, and it was named after José Antonio Echeverría, a Cuban student leader who was assassinated in 1957.
