Gabon Gabon is a country situated in Central Africa, bordered by Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo, and the Gulf of Guinea. With a population of around 2.2 million, Gabon's economy is largely driven by oil production, although the country has also made significant investments in other sectors such as agriculture, mining, and tourism. In terms of higher education, Gabon has a relatively small but growing system of universities and specialized higher education institutions. While the gross enrollment ratio for higher education in Gabon was approximately 8.3% in 2019, the government has set a target of increasing this figure to 20% by 2025. To achieve this, the government is investing in the construction of new universities, as well as offering scholarships and other forms of financial aid to students.
