Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology

Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology is a state university located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

The history of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) can be traced back to the early 1950s, when the Indonesian Association of Engineers (PII) recognized the need for a higher education institution that could train engineers to support the country's development. In 1954, Ir. Soendjasmono, the vice chairman of PII East Java, proposed the establishment of a technical university in Surabaya.

The idea was met with enthusiasm from the Indonesian government and the public, and on November 10, 1957, the Sepuluh Nopember Technical College was officially established. The college was named after the heroes of the Battle of Surabaya, which took place on November 10, 1945.

ITS began with only two departments, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. However, it quickly expanded, and by 1960, it had five departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

In 1960, ITS was also granted the status of a state university, and it was renamed the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Since then, ITS has grown into one of the leading technical universities in Indonesia.

ITS continues to be at the forefront of technological innovation in Indonesia.
