University of Kufa

The University of Kufa is a public university located in Kufa, Iraq.

The history of the University of Kufa can be traced back to the 7th century CE, when the city of Kufa was founded by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and became the capital of the Caliphate. Kufa was a major center of learning and scholarship during the Islamic Golden Age, and many famous scholars and scientists lived and taught there.

In the modern era, the University of Kufa was founded in 1987 with only two faculties: Education for Girls and Medicine. The Faculty of Medicine had been established a decade earlier as part of the University of Mustansiriya in Baghdad.
