Although its opening was delayed by World War I, the university officially welcomed its first students in 1924. Over the following decades, the institution expanded rapidly, moving to its current Mount Carmel location in the 1950s and evolving into a powerhouse of scientific achievement that has since produced four Nobel Prize laureates and pioneered breakthroughs in fields ranging from fiber optics to satellite technology.
