The history of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) can be traced back to 1929, when it was founded as the Almaty Zooveterinary Institute. In 1934, the institute was renamed the Kazakh Agricultural Institute, and its curriculum was expanded to include agronomy, plant protection, and agricultural engineering. During World War II, the institute played an important role in supporting the Soviet war effort.
