Kazakh National Agricultural University

Kazakh National Agrarian Research University is a leading university in Almaty, Kazakhstan that trains specialists for agriculture. The history of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) can be traced back to 1929, when it was founded as the Almaty Zooveterinary Institute. The institute was established to train specialists in veterinary medicine and zootechnics, in order to meet the needs of the developing agricultural sector in Soviet Kazakhstan. In 1934, the institute was renamed the Kazakh Agricultural Institute, and its curriculum was expanded to include agronomy, plant protection, and agricultural engineering. During World War II, the institute played an important role in supporting the Soviet war effort.
