Kenyatta University
Kenyatta University (KU) is a public research university in Kenya.
Kenyatta University (KU) was founded in 1970 as Kenyatta College, after Kenya gained its independence from British rule. The college was initially established as a teacher training institution, but it quickly expanded to offer other programs, such as arts, humanities, and sciences.
In 1978, the Faculty of Education was transferred from the University of Nairobi to Kenyatta College. This made Kenyatta College the only institution in Kenya training teachers at degree level.
In 1985, Kenyatta College was granted full university status and was renamed Kenyatta University. The university continued to grow rapidly in the following years, and it now offers a wide range of academic programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
KU has played a significant role in the development of Kenya. The university has produced many of the country's leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs. KU is also a leading research institution, and its research has had a major impact on the development of Kenya and the region.
